In 2020, Volleyball Ballarat turned 50 but was unable to celebrate this milestone anniversary for reasons well known. We can now officially announce that it will be celebrated on Saturday April 10th. If you would like to attend this event, to be held at the Minerdome Bistro from 6pm in conjunction with the opening round of the Victorian Volleyball League, please book your ticket here now!
We are also asking anyone who might have stored away memories, anecdotes, newspaper articles, memorabilia or photos that relate to any volleyball activity in Ballarat, from local competition and state wide tournaments, to members who have played representative volleyball at any level from 1970-2020, to dig deep into their archives and share it with us via:

2021 WARRNAMBOOL SEASIDE TOURNAMENT – March 6,7 & 8
The draw for this years tournament has been released and is available, along with the playing conditions HERE. Please follow the link to the tournament page to download the draw as it is subject to change. It will be players responsibilities to check it carefully for all the playing conditions, stadium locations and court numbers and a breakdown of match and duty times for all divisions. Please ensure that you read through it carefully, understand clearly where and when you are playing or required for duty and have with you the appropriate uniform (see uniform section below). Where possible it would be great to see our teams supporting each other over the weekend when there breaks in the schedule. Please ensure that you have advised us if you require accommodation (see below) and have completed your Operoo profile prior to the weekend.
Phantoms have organised accommodation for those under 18 or who are on a budget at Brauer College gym. The gym is one of the playing venues for the tournament and less than 10 minutes walk from the main stadium. If you would like to stay here, you MUST advise us by email so we can provide contact tracing details and know how many are staying and can organise suitable supervision. Please note, you will need to bring your own bedding (mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, towel etc) if you are staying here – you can access a school gym mat if you don’t have a mattress to bring.
The total cost per person will be determined by the number of people that stay – we have hired the venue for a fixed price. It is booked for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Committee Member Joe Nguyen will be Club representative responsible. Joe can be contacted via mobile on 0456 737 494.
Below is a list of players currently staying at Brauer College. If you are not on the list and you should be or are on the list but not staying, please let Joe know asap or email info@phantomsvolleyball.com.au

All players must have black crew (calf length) socks and black shorts (men Phantoms Club shorts and women Phantoms Club shorts or plain black bike shorts). Those already with Club playing tops, please bring them with you and if you know someone else in your Association who is not playing but has a set that you can borrow, please bring them as well just in case.
The Club will have sets of new playing tops for Men and Women’s Division 1 & 2 teams should they be required but it’s important that you bring your tops if you have them, especially if you want to play in a reverse strip or have a change of top for each day.
All players must be registered with Volleyball Victoria in the appropriate membership category to play. Only individuals who registered last year and have been contacted by Volleyball Victoria and told their memberships have been rolled over need not register for 2021. Please visit the VV Memberships page and follow the prompts to register and make payment. You cannot play any tournaments or State League if you are not registered and this payment is separate from your Club fees.
Phantoms strongly encourage all of our members to communicate with other members of the Club and their Associations that are also travelling to Warrnambool to discuss car pooling and transport arrangements. We are conscious that the year involves significant travel commitments and where possible these should be shared as widely as possible to reduce any stress, fatigue and/or financial pressure.

Phantoms will continue to support all feeder Associations with their events and tournaments. With the exception of the Warrnambool Seaside Tournament that is used as a key preparation plank for VVL, players should be available to play with their home Association or Academy team first. If they are not entering or you are not a required player, then you can play with any Phantoms representative team, provided the Committee has approved the entry and participation of that team. Any post VVL tournaments are not included in the Club fees and therefore entry costs will not be covered by the Club.
Dragon City Bendigo, Oct 30 & 31
Ballarat Skins Tournament, November 13/14
Horsham November 20 & 21
The Club will run a revised social events program in 2021 if Covid restrictions allow, reducing the number of functions players will be expected to attend, but hopefully increasing numbers at each one. As well as being listed here, they will also be posted and regularly updated on ourFacebook page. In 2020 we successfully implemented the use of Eventbrite for ticket pre-purchase to events to help us with catering and space. We will once again ask that all members and guests use this service to help us plan and track the success of our off court initiatives during 2021.
Included as part of your 2021 Membership fee is a ticket to our Phantoms Volleyball Club 2021 Presentation and Awards night. Join us over dinner and drinks to celebrate all the successes of the season with your team mates, club mates, coaches, parents and friends. Check out our Honour Board page for photos of previous years event and Club history of past winners.
Stay tuned for more information about other events including our annual Trivia Night and the highly successful Reverse Raffle.
