PHANTOMS RESERVES WOMEN 2 Results & Match Reports

Match Day 3:

Reserves Women 2 v Heidelberg
Won 3-1: 25:10, 25:10, 25:7

Phantoms Reserves 2 Ladies got underway again, after the COVID break, playing Heidleberg at Endeavour Hills. The Ladies were super keen to get back playing and quickly took advantage of an inexperienced Heidleberg team, running out strong winners 3-0. Strong serving from all players and a dominant presence at the net, meant that the opposition was not able to get into the game at any point. It was good to see everyone back with a smile on their faces, keen for some more volleyball action.
The big challenge for the team will come over the next few rounds as we start to play teams equal or higher on the ladder than us, and will really shape whether we are able to play finals and have an impact if we do.

Match Day 2:

Reserves Women 2 v Volley Friends United
Lost 1-3: 25:22, 18:25, 20:25, 9:25
Reserves Women 2 v Latrobe Uni
Lost 1-3: 25:20, 10:25, 18:25, 17:25

Match Day 1: Reserves Women 2 v Melbourne Uni Renegades

Won 3-1: 22-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-13
Phantoms Reserves Women 2 continued on their good form from Warrnambool’s Seaside tournament with a solid 4 set win vs. Melbourne University Renegades in the State League’s first round at Ballarat. The team settled well with some new faces joining the playing group, and soon all players were stepping up contributing in each of their roles and providing good energy on the court.

The team’s serving was particularly solid with minimal errors and continually forcing their opponent into many passing errors, enabling Phantoms to take advantage of this. The challenge came in the 3rd set, with Phantoms up 2-0, the Renegades team worked hard to start to get themselves back into the match, with a better defensive effort grabbing a close win. Responding to the challenge in the 4th set, Phantoms got out to an early lead, again with some good serving and cohesive teamwork that continually provided their hitters with plenty of opportunities to attack, eventually taking out the 4th set to win the match. With a good mix of experienced players and some developing talent at Phantoms, the team is well equipped to face the challenges of the season.
